Student Placements
Depending on workload and circumstances, i-Transport offers Student Placements to provide practical employment experience to local students.
Our Graduate Development Programme
At i-Transport we fully invest in our graduates, who we see as the future leaders of the business. We have tailored a comprehensive Graduate Development Programme that combines the training, experience, support and encouragement necessary to kick start a rising career.
Our development programme covers technical and soft skills, and professional accreditation. The key elements are:

Mentor
You will have an experienced mentor who will support you through regular one-to-one sessions and using our bespoke training matrix. As you progress through the business you will have the opportunity to become a mentor.

Project Experience
You will get involved in a wide range of project work from day one, and will work directly with highly experienced senior employees, including attending site visits and meetings.

CPD
We will support your continued professional seminars on the hot topics in the sector.

Appraisals
We hold annual appraisals with six-monthly reviews to identify performance objectives and competencies/skills for development.

Technical Development
Through on-the-job teaching and any appropriate transport planning software training.

In House Training
You will join our workshop series that spans your first two years and covers the keys areas of knowledge.

External Courses
You will be invited to attend the popular 20-week lecture series ‘Principles of Traffic and Transport’ and relevant external training courses.

Professional Qualification
All our graduates are supported towards a relevant and recognised professional qualification, including full financial and development support; we are stakeholder members of the Transport Planning Society (TPS) which allows us participate in the Society’s structured training and qualification programme (i.e. PDS and TPP) and employees are trained as PDS mentors.

Young Professional Day
We hold a practice-wide annual professional training day which will include sessions relating to the running of the business, project case studies, and the development of soft skills.

Social Activities
The bond between our team, within your office and across the practice, is very important to us, and this is encouraged through regular social events – recently we have arranged team activities including walking treasure hunts, escape rooms, darts, mini golf, a high-speed rib ride on the Thames, softball in the park, meals out, and charity days – we are always open to new suggestions!
Current Vacancies
We are seeking enthusiastic transport planners with three or more years’ experience in the transport industry to join our growing team and assist delivering development planning projects across the country. This will include:
- Obtaining, analysing and interpreting traffic and transport data from a range of external sources;
- Appraising development sites in terms of their accessibility by a range of transport modes;
- Undertaking junction capacity assessments;
- Day-to-day technical input into projects as well as project management of smaller development proposals;
- Inputting to masterplan and junction designs; and
- Attending and contributing to design team and client meetings.
Applicants should have:
- A degree qualification in a relevant field;
- Have a thorough understanding of the principles of transport planning;
- Excellent presentation and technical writing skills; and
- The ability to manage their own time to meet project deadlines;
- The ability to develop and run traffic models using Junctions software;
- An understanding of the application of highway design standards and guidance.
- Technical experience, including proficiency with relevant industry software e.g. TRICS, TEMPRO.
The role provides an opportunity for candidates to be involved in a number of diverse development transportation related projects, varying in scale and nature ensuring an interesting workload.

We are seeking enthusiastic graduates, with an interest in working in the transport industry, to join our growing team and assist our senior professionals in delivering development planning projects across the country. This will include:
- Obtaining, analysing and interpreting traffic and transport data from a range of external sources;
- Appraising development sites in terms of their accessibility by a range of transport modes;
- Overviewing and interpreting transport and planning policy;
- Preparing technical figures and using GIS to contribute to Transport Assessments;
- Writing sections of Transport Assessment and Travel Plan reports;
- Preparing junction capacity assessments; and
- Undertaking site visits and inputting into masterplans and designs for transport improvements.
Applicants should:
- Be degree qualified in a relevant field with a genuine interest in transport planning;
- Have an understanding of the principles of transport planning;
- Good problem-solving skills;
- Good presentation and technical writing skills; and
- The ability to manage their own time to meet deadlines.
