Key Inputs:

• Undertook baseline surveys of existing patients and staff of existing two GP surgeries and primary care trust staff and services
• Prepared Transport Assessment and Travel Plan reports to support the planning application for enhanced facility, with larger rooms and on site pharmacy
• Assessed the ability of the off-street car parks in the District Centre to accommodate the additional demand generated
• Produced a Full Travel Plan for discharge of planning condition and implementation

Site: Royal Lancaster Infirmary
Client: University Hospitals of Morecambe Bay NHS Trust
Project: Redevelopment of hospital grounds to deliver expanded and enhanced patient, visitor and staff parking and associated transport measures.

Key Inputs:

• Development of a transport strategy to support the rationalisation of parts of the hospital’s city centre site
• Conducted detailed survey of staff travel movements to / from the site including clinical and administrative staff to identify optimum parking levels for the site
• Determined required combination of secure and long stay / short stay parking for staff and patients / visitors within the hospital grounds to minimise the occurrence of parking on surrounding residential streets
• Preparation of Transport Assessment and Travel Plan to support the planning application for a 6-level multi-storey staff car park, extended patient / visitor parking, ambulance lay-over areas, improved parking / drop-off facilities at the hospital’s staff creche and associated transport and landscaping measures
• Conducted extensive negotiations with Lancashire County Council to identity a package of supporting transport measures including enhanced pedestrian facilities within the hospital, residents parking schemes, improved cycle provision including cycle parking and enhanced cycle routes within the vicinity of the hospital and wider transport improvements
