On 28 November 2018 it was the Basingstoke’s office Charity Day which, this year, was in aid of Naomi House/Jacksplace, a local children’s and teenagers hospice located in Stockbridge, Winchester. The charity which is now in it’s 21st year, provides a homely environment and specialist care to children with life limiting conditions for families and young adults living in communities across Berkshire, Dorset, Hampshire, IoW, Surrey, West Sussex and Wiltshire. The charity has two specialist units; Naomi House for children and Jacksplace for teenagers and young adults.
All members of staff gave up a days work to embark on an ‘Apprentice’ themed activity called ‘The Hustle’. The aim was to obtain as many useful items as possible to be used in the hospices, donated to families directly, or for the charity to use in raffles and auctions throughout the year to raise funds. We were split into four teams and visited various locations in the local area calling into shops and other various hotels, restaurants and spa’s, with some people also staying in the office to ‘hit the phones’. We managed to use all our negotiation skills and power of persuasion to obtain various days out such as a family ticket to Paulton’s Park, a walk with alpacas, a number of meal vouchers, gym passes, handbags and jewellery, as well as various toys and games, not to mention cash donations! We even managed to obtain an i-Pad and a toy drone. Naomi House/Jacksplace calculated the donated goods and vouchers amounted to £3,000 and we still have goods coming in from our various contacts so are hopeful to exceed this amount.
It was a fantastic day and the charity were very grateful to us and all the generous people/companies that donated the items. For the full list, please see here: list-of-donators
