A two-year study to develop a long-term vision for major roads in England has been commissioned by the Rees Jeffreys Road Fund. The study is likely to encompass the entire strategic road network and may also include sections of the local highway network that are deemed to hold a strategic role.
The purpose of the study is to inform policy-making. The Department for Transport has expressed interest in the study and the Highways Agency will support the project with “advice, information and data”.
Updates and publications on the major roads for the future study can be explored on the project website.
