We would like to extend a very warm welcome to Paul Whitaker who has joined i-Transport as a Director in the north, based in the Manchester Office.
Paul has worked in the industry for over 18 years and brings with him a wealth of transport and movement development planning experience. He joins from SLR (formerly Vectos) where he worked for the past 10 years, rising through the ranks to become Director and leader of the Manchester and Northern Region Transport Planning Team.
His project work and client base, both private and public sector, extends across the country with recent high-profile garden village and large scale residential developments in Lancashire, Cumbria, Merseyside, Greater Manchester, Essex, Suffolk and West Sussex. He also advises his planning, architect and developer clients on a variety of commercial, retail, education and healthcare developments, along with leisure and stadia developments, plus significant town and city centre regeneration projects. He is recognised as being a true expert having provided evidence at Public Inquiries and Hearings, and regularly contributes to thought leadership and knowledge sharing in relation to vision-led transport planning and the links to climate, health and well-being with developer clients, Local Authorities, Combined Authorities and at industry events such as RTPI and UKREiiF.
“I’ve been very lucky throughout my career to date that I’ve been able to work with some fantastic people, on some fantastic projects, and I’m looking forward to continuing that exciting journey with i-Transport. Those that know me will know that I have a strong work ethic and a real passion for what I do, both the technical problem-solving aspects of the projects themselves, but also working with the people and the teams involved in the delivery of projects. I’m thrilled to be able to bring my skills, knowledge and experience to an already very strong, well-respected and growing team,” Paul said.
Vanessa Eggleston, Partner based on Manchester, said, “We’re delighted to welcome Paul to the team, and look forward to the experience and leadership that he will bring to the northern region and wider i-Transport business. His knowledge of the industry, project experience, desire to share knowledge with peers, and real people focus will strengthen our commitment to continued professional development of all staff and ultimately the delivery of many more exciting projects for our clients.”
Paul is the latest appointment in the northern region and follows the appointment of fellow Director Pete Webster who joined in May, and Assistant Technical Muhammad Shafay who joined in August. All in all, another exciting announcement in our 20th anniversary year.
