Members in Southwark unanimously approved planning consent in July 2018 for the delivery of a high-quality mixed-use scheme at 136-142 New Kent Road, within the Elephant & Castle Opportunity Area, adding another site to a growing list of consented large-scale referable applications with which i-Transport LLP has been involved.

On behalf of Capital Homes, i-Transport LLP was pleased to assist with securing consent for the delivery of 81 additional homes, of which 35% are affordable, as well as a number of ground floor commercial units.

i-Transport LLP prepared a comprehensive Transport Assessment to assess the development proposal and successfully negotiated with the London Borough of Southwark and Transport for London to ensure the site can be accessed by vehicles making deliveries to the development. In recognition of the excellent access to public transport services, the scheme provides just two car parking spaces, whilst more cycle parking spaces than the minimum required by policy are provided, supporting the site’s proximity to Cycle Quietway 1 and 7 and the Cycle Superhighway network at Elephant & Castle. This sustainable approach was acknowledged by the planning committee and contributed to the unanimous decision to grant consent.

Jamie Narborough, Senior Consultant in the London office noted “It is very rewarding to have contributed towards the provision of more much needed homes in London and adds another site to our growing list of successful large-scale developments we have supported. i-Transport LLP has the knowledge and experience to support schemes of this scale and we continue to be engaged in similar schemes across London as we speak. We are keen to continue supporting sites such as these through the provision of full and comprehensive assessments and would encourage anyone considering similar to get in touch”
