We are very proud to have been able to provide transport planning support for the urgent NHS Nightingale Hospital that officially opened its doors today at ExCeL London in east London’s Docklands. Even in these unprecedented times, a planning application is required for a temporary change of use to allow the field hospital to operate from the exhibition centre building. It seems a long time ago now, but we received the call early last week to provide transport and highways support for the NHS Nightingale project and immediately put all hands on deck to understand the transport requirements of the temporary field hospital which, given the very specialist nature of the scheme, are unique. We coordinated at break neck speed with the project team over video conferencing, sharing screens and reviewing plans etc. to fully understand the requirements of the project and we input to the planning application which was submitted and completed in just under four days. It was a collective effort by all involved and the team came together over many long hours and video calls. Whilst we would much rather there was not a need for the project, it was a privilege to work on such a vital national project to help our NHS fight the coronavirus pandemic. As a result, we now have a good understanding of the transport requirements of these unique urgent care facilities.

We are pleased to have played a very small part in delivering this vital project and all of us here at i-Transport LLP wish all the staff and patients of NHS Nightingale the very best of health at this difficult time.
